The aim of the Division of 社会科学 is to impart to the student knowledge and skills to assist in solving the problems of our times; awareness of the effects of social science on civilization and its use to improve the quality of life; ability to make value judgments for effective life in a changing world, 认识到我们生活在一个开放的世界，这需要接受新的事实, 新想法, 以及新的生活方式.

The Division also seeks to guide the student in the development of democratic principles and application to daily life; and the use of the creative arts to sensitize oneself to universal human experience and to the uniqueness of the individual.
